Tonya Camacho, LCPC

Therapist - Life Balance Counseling Peoria, PLLC

Tonya earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University in 2003 after graduating from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 1993, a decade earlier. She decided to pursue her Masters after realizing she needed to make some major life changes after becoming a single Mom when “life didn’t work out as planned.” After graduating from Bradley, Tonya jokes that she was dragged “kicking and screaming” into the addiction recovery field and then quickly feel in love with working with people suffering from addictions. During those years of experience she developed and fine-tuned the gift of balancing compassion for people suffering from various addictions with seeing through their denial, self-deception, and delusional thinking and helping them to do the same. Throughout her career, she has received specialized training to treat both alcohol, drug and process addictions, like sexual addiction and gambling addiction.

Growing up in poverty in the South End of Peoria, graduating from Manual High School, and then going to Northern Illinois University, Tonya has a high cultural competency as she can effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, social, and socio-economic backgrounds. Having faced the rigors of growing up poor and building a different life for herself and her family, Tonya understands the issues and obstacles people are up against in building a different life for themselves and their families.

So, whether it’s addictions, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, or just general life transitions, Tonya is here to help you become your authentic, true self, whoever that may be.

Tonya is credentialed by most of the insurance companies, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, UHC for Caterpillar, TriCare, and Health Alliance. She is also credentialed with 4 different EAP’s. She looks forward to meeting you.
