George Comeaux, LCSW, CSAT, EMDR, SomEx®

TeleHealth Therapist - Life Balance Counseling Peoria, PLLC

(George only does TeleHealth Therapy at this time)

George is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, an EMDR Trained therapist, who specializes in treating addictions and trauma. I also specialize in SomEx® (Somatic Experiential therapy) completing my training at Experiential Healing Center in 2013.

George has experience working with individuals, couples, and families in the field of addiction treatment, working both with chemical (alcohol & drugs) and process addictions (sex & love addiction, pornography, internet, gambling, spending/shopping). He completed EMDR training to seek further tools to help client effectively heal from traumatic distress.

George grew up in the heart of cajun country in Southern Louisiana. He is a very proud graduate of Louisiana State University, and a huge LSU Tiger fan! Geaux Tigers! After working in this field for many years, only in the last decade did he discover his true passion and calling—working with those struggling with sex and love addictions and trauma. George decided to complete extensive training, very much like going back to graduate school to become a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Once there he saw the need to increase his skill set further and completed basic and several more advanced EMDR trainings. Likewise, he began to see the limitations of talk therapy, and did additional training called SomEx® to work with people in more somatic and experiential ways both in individual sessions and groups.

As a Certifed Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), George completed extensive training through the International Institute of Trauma and Addcition Professionals (IITAP) with cutting-edge leaders in the addiction treatment field to learn to utilize the task-centered approach researched and developed by Patrick Carnes, Ph.D., a pioneer in the field sex addiction treatment. The state-of-the-art CSAT certification is quickly becoming an industry standard for addiction professionals. Additionally, he completed basic and advanced trainings with Diane Clayton, LCSW for EMDR. EMDR allows people to process through the trauma that so commonly co-exists with addiction. EMDR is an evidenced-based practice now accepted as a treatment of choice by numerous trauma organizations.  EMDR is an empirically validated treatment for trauma. EMDR allows individuals to rapidly process through and heal from the symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences. EMDR is designed to reduce trauma-related stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and to improve overall mental health functioning.

George is credentialed by a couple insurance companies, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, UHC for Caterpillar, and Health Alliance. He looks forward to meeting you!
