As a Marriage & Family Therapist at Life Balance Counseling Peoria, PLLC, Alan and the Life Balance Counseling team of specialists seek to provide the highest quality of collaborative care, specifically for sex addicts and their spouses, and more broadly for addicts and their families. Alan's vision for Life Balance Counseling is to build a diverse group of specialists who treat the full range of addiction and trauma-related issues from a team approach, including sexually compulsive behavior, trauma, compulsive gambling, gaming, internet addiction, and substance abuse, as well as empathy building and parental enmeshment — all issues that all relate back to the core work of treating sexual addiction.
Alan received his Masters in Counseling from a seminary — Harding School of Theology in Memphis, TN. He has been practicing in the Central Illinois area for 15 years. In addition to being a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Alan is a certified EMDR therapist, has specialty training as a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist with both Financial Disorders (Work Addiction, Spending/Shopping Addiction) as well as Technology, Internet, and Gaming Addictions. Most recently, Alan has become certified as an International Certified Gambling Counselor. Alan has completed specialty training in both Early Recovery Couple’s Empathy Model and is a Preferred Provider from Dr. Ken Adams’ Enmeshment training. Alan is an avid reader and constantly is “reading for the need” to educate himself in an effort to help his clients and freely shares this knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm with everyone.
